Janani Ramachandran is a vocalist, actor, and ardent advocate of the arts for social justice. She hails from the SF Bay Area and South India, and graduated from Stanford University in 2014. In DC, Janani has served as Advocacy Director for the arts collective Bucharest Inside the Beltway, has been trained in Theater of the Oppressed methods, starred in How to Quit Your Day Job at the Capital Fringe Festival, performed in Finally Quiet in My Head at the DC Black Theater Festival – a workshop production of I Love DC with Theater Alliance, and various other productions. Janani has been trained in classical South Indian music since the age of 4 and frequently collaborates with musicians from different genres around DC. Janani also works directly with at-risk immigrant and teen mothers and children at local nonprofit Mary’s Center.
